Soup redefined- add some lamb

Lamb is not one of the meats that come to mind when one thinks of making soup, but this surprising recipe is definitely worth sharing.
This soup is both meaty and light enough to be a starter to a great meal. What I love the most about this recipe is that it is versatile; you can add your personal touch to it or make it a little heavier for the winter months.

Fresh lamb soup bones (with a little meat on them)
4 Garlic cloves
1tsp olive oil
2 Cubes of beef stock
1/4 cup red wine
3 Bay leaves
1/4 Roughly chopped cabbage
4 Chopped green onions
1 Chopped onion
1/2 Yellow bell pepper
1/4 Cup beef stock
1/4 Cup water
1 Roughly chopped potato

1. Put soup bones in a pot and pour water. Add 3 garlic cloves, bay leaves, beef stock  cubes, salt and pepper, olive oil and red wine.
2. Cook on medium heat for 20 mins
3. Take soup bones out of pot and set aside to cool and pour stock in pot into a bowl.
4. Cook onion, bell pepper, potato and garlic cloves until browned
5. Using your hands or small knife, shred meat off bones and cook in the pot with the rest of the ingredients
6. Add soup bones, cover with beef stock (prepared earlier) and add beef stock and cook for 45 mins or until potato is soft.
7. When soup is cooked, cover top of soup with roughly chopped cabbage and cover pot for 3 more mins so that cabbage steams a little but stays a little crunchy for texture.
8. Serve and enjoy!

New Video from Rihanna - Man Down

Liking this video came as a surprise at first, but I think it's because it's a different sound compared to her usual and there is something that's really sincere about it. Am I reading too much into it? Probably!

Good one Rihanna.

Red girl turned White

I have always been strictly a red wine type of girl, until one random night downtown with the girls at a cool lounge called Sip. I ordered the usual, a merlot and even though I wasn’t familiar with the wine I stayed true to the status quo. To my dismay it tasted very awful and I felt like someone owed me a refund. Fortunately my friend who was sitting right beside me was having a glass of white wine that she was enjoying so much she decided to swap drinks. I took a sip and was immediately blown away by refreshing, crisp and light taste!
It was a Riesling! A term I hadn’t become familiar with, as all I drank were merlot, shiraz, rose.. you name it but never a Riesling.

The next day it was off to my local liquor store to find me a bottle or two and it was then that Stamp of Australia Riesling graced my wine rack.. two bottles to start!

I recommend this wine for anything and everything! Winding down after a long? Pour a tall glass. Having dinner or a snack? A nice chilled glass will do. Just hanging out at home or out and about? This is one you can enjoy the whole night! I have personally enjoyed it in all these ways and its is a must have on my wine rack and fridge!

Welcome - What’s on your plate?

I recently had a nostalgic moment and I started to miss the days when I took the time to look for quality ingredients, bake a great pie for dessert or a hearty stew to warm me up on a gloomy day.
Food is such a big part of our everyday lives and it makes sense to put a lot of love and thought into how its prepared and how we enjoy it. Experimenting with recipes is so much fun because not only do you get a chance to push your skills, but you also learn how to make them your own.

Now I am no homemaker or anything close to that, but there’s a lot to be said about the perfect bite! From making sure you have the right utensils and equipment, an idea or recipes in mind, great ingredients and a healthy adventurous appetite!

I find it very interesting how and where people choose to enjoy their eats. There’s quite a number of people who would rather settle for the store bought preheat and serve meal and then there’s the people like myself who would do anything to bake the perfect pie!
